Vehicle eligibility | Canada​

Before starting the listing process, check that your vehicle meets Resortifi’s eligibility requirements for listing in Canada. These criteria apply as long as your vehicle is listed on Resortifi.

Vehicle type and registration

  • Be an eligible passenger vehicle located in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Quebec
  • Be registered to you or to an owner who’s authorized you to list their vehicle, and meets all provincial legal requirements.
  • Ineligible vehicles include, but aren’t limited to, motorcycles, limousines, box trucks, vehicles that seat more than nine (including the driver), RVs, vehicles that require a commercial license, off-road vehicles, three-wheeled vehicles like Polaris Slingshot or Vanderhall Venice
  • Have permanent plates; we don’t allow temporary, dealer or trader plates

Vehicle age and condition

  • Be no more than 12 years old, with exceptions for “specialty” or “classic” vehicles
  • Have fewer than 200,000 kilometres
    • You must maintain your vehicle and continue to meet our maintenance and safety standards as your vehicle ages
    • Once listed, vehicles that reach or exceed 200,000 km may remain listed if they’re in excellent condition, and continue to meet all legal, safety, and mechanical standards
  • Have fair market value of up to $150,000
    • Resortifi provides coverage for actual cash value (ACV) of vehicle, up to $150,000
    • Resortifi uses a third-party vendor to determine vehicle value at the time of listing

  • Have a clean (e.g. not a “branded” or “salvage”) title
    • You’re responsible for knowing your vehicle’s title history
    • If you don’t, get a vehicle history report from Carfax before listing on Resortifi
  • Have never been declared a total loss

Insurance

  • Meet our insurance requirements; see list of insurers that permit car sharing
  • Have proof of active OEM tracker if vehicle has vehicle value at time of listing of $105,000; you may be responsible for up to 20% of covered damages above your protection plan deductible for select vehicles without activated tracker

Specialty or classic vehicle requirements

You may be able to list a “specialty” or “classic” car if it meets the conditions below. Call us at 1-888-391-0460 to confirm eligibility.

  • Be 25 years or older
  • Have a fair market value up to $105,000
  • Be in excellent mechanical and physical condition
  • Have all seat belts in safe, working condition
  • Be subject to additional review

Consistent guest experience

  • Have no branding on the inside or outside of the vehicle other than the automaker’s branding.
