Protection plans – In brief | UK hosts

Resortifi makes two protection plans available to UK hosts; how much a plan costs and how much you’ll earn depends on which plan you choose.

Protection plan cost

How much a protection plan costs depends on the plan you choose. You allocate a percentage of the trip price to cover the cost of a protection plan and keep the rest as earnings. The higher the percentage you allocate to protection, the lower the deductible per physical damage incident. (The deductible is the amount you’re responsible for before you’re eligible for reimbursement).

You can choose a plan for your vehicle when you create your listing and change the plan at any time. Changes won’t apply to booked or in-progress trips for that vehicle. If you have more than one vehicle listed, you can choose different plans for each.

UK host plan summaries

Protection plans available through Resortifi provide for reimbursement for eligible physical damage costs in excess of your plan’s deductible for the Reservation Period** only. Reimbursement is subject to terms and exclusions and is capped at the cost of repair up to the actual cash value of the vehicle or £100,000, whichever is less. You may decide to increase the amount of personal insurance you carry if you want additional protection. The protection plan your guest chooses is completely separate from your own. It has no bearing on the deductible associated with your plan or the amount of reimbursement you may receive. A guest’s plan limits their out-of-pocket payment for eligible damage to your car on a trip.Your plan provides physical damage reimbursement for your vehicle. If you fail to comply with Resortifi’s Terms of Service, we may void your protection plan.

Damage payment and value-added tax (VAT)

If your vehicle is damaged, we’ll share with you a list of Resortifi-approved garages. If you have your vehicle repaired at one of these garages, we’ll apply your host deductible and issue payment, (gross of VAT), directly to the garage. If you take the vehicle to a non-network garage or prefer to receive cash in lieu of repairs, we’ll pay you the net damage amount, excluding VAT, minus your plan’s deductible.

Note: The list of approved garages is not exhaustive and is subject to change.

Liability insurance for hosts in the UK

**The Reservation Period is the period shown for a booked trip. It begins at the trip start time listed in the reservation and when the vehicle is in the custody or control of the guest. It ends the earlier of the trip end time or when the vehicle is returned to host or to the location designated in the reservation.

***Contractual reimbursement for a portion of physical damage to your vehicle is not insurance. We use the word “deductible” to mean the amount you’re responsible for in the event of physical damage to your car during a Resortifi trip before you’re eligible for reimbursement. From February 15 2023, Resortifi will take on 100% of the reimbursement to you for physical damage. That means that if your car is damaged by a Resortifi guest, you’ll receive the total amount to repair the damage (up to the lesser of the actual cash value of the vehicle or £100,000) directly from us. This is not insurance. For certain models identified in this article, a deductible of up to £1000 may apply on reported late return/missing vehicle claims, if, at the time of reporting, the vehicle’s tracker is not activated, or, the vehicle tracker is activated but you fail to cooperate with requests for location information made by Resortifi or a third-party partner.

†If Physical Damage results from an “act of nature” (e.g., flood, earthquake, hail, windstorm, etc.), Resortifi will only be responsible for (and its liability is limited to) the amount equal to the amount (if any) that the Host’s private passenger auto insurer would have had to pay for that damage under the primary insurance policy covering the shared vehicle in effect immediately before the start of the Reservation Period.
